Ashura 2026

Ashura is an Islamic observance falling on the tenth day of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar. It holds a distinct meaning in each of Islam's two major traditions: in Sunni tradition it is a day of voluntary fasting, thanksgiving and charity, while in Shia tradition it is the central commemoration of the death of Husayn ibn Ali, a grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, and his companions at Karbala in 680 CE.
