That 2023 tournament drew record global audiences and produced an unforgettable finale, as Japan edged the United States in a final sealed by a duel between two of the sport's biggest names. The 2026 edition, played from 5 to 17 March, delivered a first-time champion: Venezuela eliminated defending champion Japan in the quarter-finals and then edged the host United States 3–2 in the final at loanDepot Park in Miami, with Maikel García named the tournament's most valuable player. Beyond the results, the Classic has carried baseball into fresh territory, nurturing followings in Europe and deepening the game's roots across the Americas and East Asia.
